Sunday Bible Study: “The Sign of Jonah”
Sundays after worship
Rev. Heidi and Rev. Donna will offer a discussion group relating the Book of Jonah – the story of a man swallowed by a fish – to everyday life. “The Sign of Jonah,” or Jonah’s captivity inside the fish’s belly for three days, has been a symbol of the death and resurrection of Jesus since ancient times. Come every week or come once.
Feb. 21: God is Calling (Jonah 1:1-3)
March 7: Saved in the Storm (Jonah 1:4-16)
March 14: Praying in the Belly of the Fish (Jonah 2:1-10)
March 28: About Face (Jonah 3:5-10)
Centering Prayer
Sundays, 7-8pm
Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift in which we experience God's presence within us. This method of prayer fosters both our relationship with God and a discipline to further that relationship. Please come and join us to learn more and experience this prayer method during the Sundays in the Lenten season. Centering Prayer will be offered each Sunday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., beginning on Sunday, February 21st.
Photos and Experiences of Haiti
Sunday, March 21, 9am liturgy
Mallory Holding, an Episcopal Young Adult Service Corps Volunteer will be coming to preach and speak with us on Sunday, March 21. Mallory, a member of St. Mark's, Glen Ellyn (and the daughter of The Rev. Canon Suzi Holding, now of the Diocese of San Diego), served in Haiti for several months leading up to the earthquake, and was there when it hit. She hopes to return there soon. Haiti is the most populous diocese of The Episcopal Church.
Giving Sundays
March 7 and April 4
This Lent, consider making a substantial gift of canned vegetables, soups, tuna, salmon, diced tomatoes, or beans to help supply our local food pantry at New Song Church here in Bolingbrook. Bring your items at any time and drop them off in the boxes in the narthex, or front hall. The donations will be blessed at the altar and delivered the first Sunday of every month (including Easter this year!).
Inquirers' Class

Making a Confession for Lent
Saturday afternoons, or anytime
Each Sunday in Lent, we make a congregational confession together. Lent is also an appropriate time for making a private rite of confession. While confession to a priest is not required to receive God’s forgiveness, it can be a meaningful rite of reconciliation to God. Contact Rev. Heidi if you would like to make this rite. If you would like to review the service beforehand there are two versions in The Book of Common Prayer, found on pp. 447-462 or at www.bcponline.com: click “Pastoral Offices” and then “Reconciliation of a Penitent.”
