"God is not Finished with us yet" That statement, however cliche‚ expresses what we know about ourselves, both as individuals and as part of the church community of St. Benedict. We have tried to express that truth anew in our vision statement. |

Amid our hopes and dreams, we have also experienced doubt, fears and hurt. And like all human beings, we sometimes fail through sin. But we admit our sins and accept their consequences. Because in spite of our difficulties, we have made the decision to step forward confidently in response to God's call to us, trusting that Christ has already prevailed on our behalf: that our sins and failures are forgiven and that we are heirs of God’s infinite love. For us, faith is a conscious decision -- our decision. |

We are a church community within the Episcopal tradition, formed in 1972 with a name and a history. We provide worship celebration, church programs and fellowship opportunities. But our "we" remains incomplete without “you”. You show us another face of Jesus. Your place is reserved at the table. We can picture you here, our hands joined with yours. |

We appreciate it when people say that St. Benedict already feels like home. But a home is somehow never finished – it changes as we change. Perhaps we return to school, shift career paths, find the strength to confront substance abuse, decide we’ve lived long enough with our bad habits or simply realize that Jesus has changed our lives when we weren’t looking. Whatever our situations or changes, we discover that “home” (whether a place or an attitude) is where creation and re-creation happen. |

We often think of home as a refuge, a place of comfort and safety. And we envision our church community being just such a place. We always strive to maintain an atmosphere where everyone feels welcomed, safe and comfortable -- "at home" in every sense of the word. Yet a home can sometimes embody risks, struggles and growing pains. And no matter how much we love one another, we may argue rather than hug. Sadly, we sometimes even wound and are wounded most deeply at home. But what ultimately saves home and saves each of us is Christ. He is the host, owner and head-of-household. He lives within and shines through each of us. When we bring our hopes, failures, pain, sins and good deeds done and undone to His table, He accepts them all gladly. He then shapes and strengthens us through the power of his Holy Spirit and forgiving love as we grow together to become the people God created us to be! |
