We have been given a great gift. The Church of St. Benedict is a Christian community that is growing: in hope, hospitality, outreach, prayer, and enthusiasm for what is possible! God is moving in the world - how will the branches of our church grow into what God's Spirit is bringing into being in the world around us?
This fall, Ben Davis and Dave Smith, stewardship co-chairs, the Bishop's Committee, and I are asking all of the people of the community of St. Benedict to financially support the ongoing ministry of the Church of St. Benedict for the upcoming year.
We have many reasons to give thanks to God for the blessings of this church, and to look forward continue to grow into what God is calling us to do. Here's how we, the stewardship team, see that call:
Hospitality
Outreach
Prayer and Worship
Enthusiasm
(Dave Smith commented: "HOPE without enthusiasm is just a HOP!") As Christian people, we have every reason to stand in a place of hope and expectation. With your financial generosity, we can expect, not only to continue to offer meaningful worship, great pastoral care, and hospitality to all people who come through our doors, but to grow in those ministries.
We will have our Stewardship Sundays on November 9 and 16, where you will be invited in worship to offer a card with your pledge written on it to God's work in this place. We will bless all gifts offered - "seeds of hope" - for growth and fruitfulness in the coming year! In a month of Sundays, beginning October 19, four St. Benedict folks will help me talk about hope and what it has meant to them in this church community, and what it means to them as we grow toward the future.
I invite you to be grateful and generous, as we move with hope into this next year, together in the Spirit.
