The faith community of St Benedict attracts people from a variety of racial, ethnic and religious origins. We value and are enriched by our diversity, even when our differences stretch us.
Drawing upon Scripture, tradition and experience, our congregation -- speaking through questionnaires, focus groups, and revision team meetings during 1998 – embraced the following core beliefs and values which united us as a faith community and remain relevant to us today:
The Episcopal Church is:
• God created all things.
• Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
• We are a forgiven and saved people, destined for resurrection with Christ who died for our sins.
• We are a people centered in God.
• We renounce the forces of evil with God's help.
• God has a will for us to follow.
• As God's called people, we are to bear witness to Christ.
• Scripture reveals special concern for the poor and the needy and calls upon us to serve them.
• We are called to steward all creation through managing our time, talent and money in accordance with God's will for us.
• All baptized Christians are invited to the Lord's Table.
• We believe that God loves us dearly and calls everyone to love each other as He loves us.
• The Holy Spirit is the breath of life and the wind of change.
